CTC President's Report October 2022

Swim, Bike, Run Rinse Repeat

Strava Competition/Athlete of the Month:

AOTM for October is Al Masterson – Al did two 70.3 races this month.

Events:

Please join us for the annual Jersey Ride.  Meet at Madison Bear Garden at 10:00AM on October 29, 2022.  Ride will be about an hour and a half.  Stay and eat at The Bear afterwards on us! 

End of the Season Party is December 10, 2022 at 5:00.  Be on the lookout for an Evite and an event on Facebook. Board elections will be held at this event.  Email a board member if you would like to nominate a teammate or yourself. Up for realection:  Tony English, Karen English, Greg Watkins, Amy Bromelow, Justin Waller.

Training:

Swims:

One Mile open water swims are done for the year.

The River Road TTs:   

Thank you, Eric Ayars, for hosting the TTs again this season.  We look forward to this program starting up again in the spring.

Rides:

There is a hill repeat group that rides in California Park.  The ride starts the first Wednesday after the time change.  The ride meets at NorthRim Cyclery.

Runs: 

The Saturday Beginner LSD run is a beginner run going for up to 60 minutes. Meet at the 5-Mile Recreation Area near the bathrooms. Pay attention to the Facebook posts for updates. 

TUESDAY Night Run: It is posted on Facebook weekly.  This run currently meets at 5:30 at One Mile near the bathrooms on the North side of Sycamore Pool. After the time change this run will me moved to Wildwood Park to run on the Levee.

CTC Track Workout:

Thursday track meetings will return in the spring.

Black Butte Tri/DU:

Stay tuned for next year’s registration info. Racers who brought a volunteer and are seeking reimbursement please contact Shawn Hughes.

Club Races:

Ironman California, Oct 23, 2022-  We had many club members participate in this race!  Gordon Cox, Eric Ayars, Joanne Gilchrist, Louis Davis, Donald Rioux, Tony English, Mitch Harrel.

Uniforms

The uniform store is now closed but T-Shirts and other CTC apparel can be ordered anytime through Squadocker.

When the track is unavailable, alternative locations will be posted.  Updates to the track location and any other info are made on the Facebook page.

CTC President's Report June/July 2022

Swim, Bike, Run Rinse Repeat

This month we want to highlight our sponsor In Motion Fitness who offers our members a membership discount.

Strava Competition/Athlete of the Month:

AOTM for July is Greg Watkins for his stellar race at the World Championships

Something new.  We will be offering members a chance to earn points and prizes for training and CTC training even participations.  Stay tuned for details!!!

Training:

Swims:

One Mile open water swims are every Friday AM.  Meet between 6:30-7:00.  An excellent opportunity to practice wetsuit swimming.

In Motion pool is open.

The River Road TTs:   

The time trial is held the first Thursday of the month @ 6:01pm.  Sign ups start at 5:30. Meet where 5th St turns into River Road Southwest of town.  The course is 10 miles long, five miles out and back. Helmet’s required! Free and open to all abilities.

Something new this year:  We are meeting for post ride refreshments at the Allies Pub.  The Club will pay for the first round of drinks and some appetizers to share for current CTC members.  More drinks or food can be purchased separately of course.

Summer Party

CTC Summer party is JULY 30, 2-5PM at 3300 Inspiration Ln. Paradise.  There is a pool and will be a lifeguard for the kids (Thanks Jack English).  Appetizers and drinks will be provided. There will be a table set up for gear swap.  Bring any tri items you would like to rehome.  Please take items home with you that don’t get claimed. This will be a fun party in a special location.  Did I mention the wine cave?

Club Races:

Aug 27           TBF Tri Club Championships TBF The 24th Annual Granite Bay Triathlon | TBF Racing (totalbodyfitness.com)

This is a tri club championship.  Our club has an opportunity to compete with ither tri clubs.  Points are accrued for performance but also participation and volunteering.   Join us at this super cool event.
