CTC President's Report - March 2020

Swim, Bike, Run & Smile

COVID 19:

As some of you have probably already heard there is a little virus going around. It has caused some significant lifestyle changes to our community. I want to encourage all of us to heed the directives of our health care professionals. Therefore, all Club group training activities are suspended for now. Remember you are triathletes and in the end you race alone. So, keep running, riding and swimming. Just do it alone or with those that you already share spit with. Voler: Voler is shut down. All their staff has been furloughed. We are going to be delayed a few weeks on our order until they get back to work. Thank you, Tony English, for staying on top of this.

Training:

(Temporarily Suspended) Swims: The One Mile open water swim workouts will resume in the Spring. In Motion hosts an organized swim workout with stroke drills on Tues/Thurs from 8:30- 9:30 am which is free to In Motion members and $50 a month for non-members.

The River Road TTs: Will resume in the Spring 2020 Rides:

The Sunday ride is run by Jenni Merrell. Location, route, and distance vary from week to week. Email Jenni to get the weekly details (treasurer@chicotriathlonclub.com). Also keep an eye on the Facebook page, she will usually post details there as well. Rain typically cancels. There is also a community Sunday 9:00 a.m. LSD (Long Steady Distance) ride that meets at One Mile. Pace is typically 18-19 mph and there are many options for early turns back into town during the ride.

The Friday Rides: The rides will resume in the Spring of 2020. Email Shawn Hughes at amigohughes@gmail.com if you are interested in receiving notices of ride date and times.

Runs: The Saturday Beginner LSD is at 9:00 A.M. It is a slower paced beginner run going for up to 60 minutes. Meet at the 5-Mile Recreation Area near the bathrooms. There is also an LSD run on Saturday’s meeting at the 5-mile bathrooms at 8:00 AM. The Monday Night Run meets at Wildwood Park near the bathrooms at 6:00 P.M. bring headlamps. The run is posted on Facebook weekly. CTC Track Workout: Every Thursday meet at the Chico State track at 5:45 PM. Updates are made on the Facebook page.

Black Butte Tri/DU:

Registration for the 2020 Black Butte triathlon/duathlon is open. The race will be held on September 12, 2020. Be sure to register as soon as you can, to get the best deal on registration: http://blackbuttetriathlon.org

Club General Meeting: We had our 2020 Annual General Membership Meeting on March 7th at one of our sponsors THE MADDISON BEAR GARDEN. We would like to give a big thank you to the Bear for their continued support of our Club. We had over 30 members in attendance. We would like to thank another sponsor Nancy Cordoso with Tinman Tri for agreeing to speak with our club and for all of the support she has given to us.

Race Results:
