CTC-A place to have fun, learn and explore your talents.

I hope everyone is having a great Spring and getting out to train in our cooler temperatures before the summer heat hits us. It was great to see so many CTC members participating in the Chico Velo Wildflower, I hope that everyone had a safe and fun ride. It’s awesome to live in a town that hosts a world class century ride.

The second monthly “first Thursday” 10 mile time trial on River Road is this Thursday May 2nd. This flat out and back race against the clock is free and open to everyone. It starts where 5th street leaves Chico and becomes River Road. Sign-ups begin at 5:30 PM, first rider leaves at 6:01 PM, with the rest of the riders on 1-minute intervals after that. Rules of this event include helmets are required, you are responsible for your own safety and no drafting. Big shout out to CTC member Eric Ayars for volunteering to put on this monthly event.

Our first club race is coming up on May 11th, the TBF Folsom Lake International Triathlon. This event has a distance for everyone:

Folsom Lake International Triathlon: 1.5K swim-40K bike-10K run

Folsom Lake Oly Lite Triathlon: 1.5K swim-40K bike-1 mile run

Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon: 400 yd swim-6.5 mi bike-2 mi run.

 Aquabike: – 1.5K swim-40K bike and

Open Water Swim: – 1.5K

Our next club event is the Bike Maintenance workshop on Sunday May 19th from 11 AM to 1 PM at 1267 Orchard Way. This is a great way to brush up on your skills for changing a flat and learning basic bike maintenance. Please RSVP to Shawn Hughes at vice_president@chicotriathlonclub.com or to the Facebook event.

Thanks again to everyone who volunteered at the Chico Stage Race Time Trial on Sunday March 31st, CTCs time and effort was very much appreciated. Our next volunteer opportunity is not until the Black Butte tri in September as he Celebration of Life 5K which is usually in May, is not occurring this year.

Don’t forget that registration is currently open for the 2019 Black Butte Triathlon. https://www.trisignup.com/Race/CA/Orland/BlackButteTriathlon

CTC members are eligible for race reimbursement (except for the relay race) at the pre-April 1st registration price. You will need to volunteer or bring a volunteer to the race and start the race to get reimbursed. Please help spread the word to anyone who might be interested in participating in this fun event.  It is a great race for both experienced and first time triathletes.
